DON JAZZY’S “DOROBUCCI’’ AN ANTHEM ON THE STREETS

 

 How did a coined word, a simple sound bite suddenly become an anthem? That is the question on the hearts of many music lovers. Dorobucci, word so nonsensical no one knows what it means except for the musical genius who birthed it.

The question on many lips on streets and campuses, facebook walls  is what is “Dorobucci”? students on campuses call themselves “Doro” like “Doro Lucy “, Doro Jane”, they add “Doro” the ones name; it’s a new swags in school. 

Dorobucci is the latest musical from Don Jazzy’s laboratory. “Dorobucci” was released sometime in May or late April as a single from the house of Mavin. The song features Don Jazzy himself, Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid, Ice Prince as well as new additions to the Mavin Assemble; Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Di’ ja.

What exactly is behind contagious “Doro”, no one seems to understand better than Don Jazzy from his emergence on the musical scene, Don Jazzy has displayed an uncanny facility for reading the musical barometer. 

As the head of the then MoHits, Don Jazzy gave us “Tongolo and Koko” alongside D’banj and today, many years later, people are still asking “what is the koko?” and while that question was still seeking its answer, Don Jazzy hit us with “Eminado”. 

Although Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage tried giving meaning to ‘Eminado as something priceless” but not to the satisfaction of fans because no one knows what language it is and when people started getting over “Eminado” Mavin House dropped “Dorobucci” and set off a musical storm. Where do these words come from?

Many thought not having D’banj had dulled Don Jazzy’s musical gift but Don Jazzy proved fast that he was indeed the Don by producing hit songs with Dr Sid, “Surulere”, Wande Coal, “The Kick” “Goodie Bag” by D’ Prince, ‘Eminado” by Tiwa Savage. With these songs, Don Jazzy made it clear that he is still the one and only Don.

With this hit song, Don Jazzy has made it clear that he is the Don, because Dorobucci is no other than Don jazzy and that he is on top of his game than any woman or man. The first verse makes clear who Dorobucci is. 

 “Dorobucci. Don Dorobucci; Doro Jazzy, eh Doro Boss Doro big, you know say Doro heavy, Doro skillful, You know say Doro Bloody. Doro get the biggest label wey you know, of course…….. Doro pass any one for gathering”.

What boast can be more than this, because if you ask, will say more than this, because if you ask, I will say Don Jazzy is giving himself a self appraisal which seems to be true, because Mavin Record Label is one of the biggest and has many other talented artist under it.
